Fitzgerald apologizes for spiking ball after 2-point conversion

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald apologized for spiking the ball after scoring on a two-point conversion during Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

Fitzgerald said he was upset by his eldest son electing to go to the Arizona State Fair instead of the Cardinals game.

"I was a little frustrated and had a heavy heart today," Fitzgerald said, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "My feelings were a little hurt, so I was carrying that around all day. So, when I got in there, I kind of let it out. To all the kids that are watching, I'm sorry. I set a bad example today."

It's the first time Fitzgerald has spiked the ball in his 15-year career.

Fitzgerald and the Cardinals now head into their bye week before resuming their season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 11.
