The New England Patriots plan to bench Josh Gordon for several series on Monday versus the Buffalo Bills as discipline for the wide receiver's lateness, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

He'll be held out for about a quarter, Rapoport added, and will get regular playing time afterward.

Gordon, whose tardiness contributed to the Cleveland Browns' decision to trade him, reportedly arrived late Sunday while the Patriots were getting ready to depart Gillette Stadium for Buffalo, according to The Athletic's Jeff Howe.

In four games with the Patriots, Gordon has amassed 13 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown. The 27-year-old's role in New England's offense has grown by the week.

Gordon was suspended for a total of 54 games between 2014 and 2017 due to off-field issues.
