Buffalo Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman is expected to start Sunday's Week 9 tilt against the Chicago Bears with Derek Anderson nursing a concussion, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Anderson started Buffalo's Monday night loss to the New England Patriots but was knocked out of the game with 1:25 remaining in the fourth quarter after taking a sack.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Anderson's injury, but has yet to officially rule him out for Sunday.

McDermott added that rookie quarterback Josh Allen is "making good progress," but will miss his third straight game, per WKBW's Joe Buscaglia. Allen suffered an elbow injury in Week 6 and is still considered week to week.

Peterman was named the Bills' starter prior to Week 1 but was quickly benched in favor of Allen. The second-year signal-caller has completed 40.6 percent of his passes this season while throwing for one touchdown and four interceptions.

Buffalo signed Anderson Oct. 9, and the veteran has started each of the Bills' last two games. He threw for 290 yards and one interception against the Patriots on Monday.
