Bills GM: McCoy 'definitely' in team's plans for next season

LeSean McCoy remained a member of the Bills through the NFL's trade deadline despite rumors of a potential move, and the veteran running back is apparently far from done in Buffalo.

"We like what he brings, to the point we'll have him back in 2019," said Bills general manager Brandon Beane, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He'll definitely be a part of that."

The 30-year-old McCoy, like the entire Bills offense, has performed far below expectations this season. He's run for 257 yards on 75 carries (3.4 YPC) and zero touchdowns in seven appearances and has yet to crack the 100-yard rushing mark in a game.

McCoy will carry a cap hit of $9.05 million next season, which figures to be the third-highest mark among running backs league-wide, according to Spotrac.

While some teams might balk at the prospect of paying a declining 30-plus back top dollar, Buffalo has a serious lack of offensive playmakers on the roster, and will likely need McCoy to help Josh Allen through his second NFL season in 2019.
