Former Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will file a $180-million lawsuit against renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews and the Andrews Institute for Orthopedic Surgery, his lawyer Brad Sohn told Albert Breer of the MMQB.com.

According to the lawsuit, Floyd suffered permanent nerve and muscle damage in his right leg after Andrews opted for a more significant surgery than the one he initially told the defensive tackle, which was supposed to sideline him for around a month.

The former first-round pick's career is now over.

The suit alleges that the Andrew Institute negligently administered a pain blocker that led to the career-ending damage to his leg.

"We believe that if Sharrif had not been the victim of the medical negligence we allege, he would've been paid commensurate with some of the top players at his position, if not some of the top defensive players in football," Sohn said

The $180-million figure is based on the career earnings of other top players at Floyd's position.
