The Chicago Bears are "cautiously optimistic" that Mitchell Trubisky will be able to play through a right shoulder injury and start Thursday's Thanksgiving matchup against the Detroit Lions, head coach Matt Nagy said on Tuesday.

However, Nagy was careful to leave the door ajar for Trubisky to sit, saying he "couldn't make any promises" about the quarterback's status.

Trubisky suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of the Bears' Week 11 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears didn't practice on Monday, but the team said Trubisky would've been sidelined had a session taken place, according to Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune.

Chicago's offense has been hot lately, averaging the fifth-most points over the last three games (33.3), according to teamrankings.com. Trubisky has played a large role in that recent success, throwing five touchdown passes and only three interceptions, while also running for another score.
