Redshirt sophomore wide receiver D.K. Metcalf announced Friday his decision to forgo his final two years of eligibility at Ole Miss and declare for the NFL draft.

"I had a month to weigh my options," Metcalf told Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel. "I prayed to God and told Him to put the right decision in me. After meeting with coach (Matt) Luke, they did everything they could to give me the right information, and I made my choice."

Metcalf has been out since October after suffering a season-ending neck injury against Arkansas, although he expects to be cleared to fully participate in all football activities in January.

The Rebels wideout, who stands 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, has generated buzz as a potential first-round pick due to his intriguing combination of size and speed and could be one of the first receivers off the board in next April's draft.

Metcalf accumulated 26 receptions, 569 yards, and five touchdowns during his final campaign at Ole Miss.
