It could be an expensive summer for Jerry Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys intend to give contract extensions to both quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper this upcoming offseason, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Dallas has yet to engage in talks with either player, however, added Rapoport.

The Cowboys also have to take care of defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, by either placing the franchise tag on him again or giving him a big-money extension, but the team reportedly has prepared to fit all its stars under the cap.

Prescott will likely be asking for a deal that at least exceeds that of Jimmy Garoppolo, who signed an extension worth $27.5 million per season last year.

Aaron Rodgers ($33.5 million), Matt Ryan ($30 million), and Kirk Cousins ($28 million) are the NFL's top earners, but all have more production and pedigree than Prescott.

Meanwhile, Cooper will probably be aiming to match the $16 million per season give to Sammy Watkins during 2017 free agency, as the Cowboys were reportedly among the teams interested in the wideout who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
