The Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Monday, the team announced.

Jacksonville is fresh off a 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and has dropped seven straight games.

Hackett thought he was meeting to discuss a possible change at quarterback before being told he was fired.

"It wasn't anything negative, (Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone) just decided to make a move. I guess he didn't think I was good enough," Hackett told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Hackett added: "I knew Doug had thought about it I guess the football Gods had it out for me. We started off hot, had so many injuries, we were a completely different team. Guys busted their butts, but you can only do so much. I wish I could've figured something out."

Hackett first served as the quarterbacks coach for Jacksonville in 2015 before being tapped as the interim offensive coordinator the following year.

Prior to coaching in Jacksonville, Hackett was the Bills' offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, working under Marrone.

Jacksonville, an AFC Conference finalist last season, currently ranks 22nd in yards per game (346.5) and 28th points per game (17.9). The team is last in the AFC South with a 3-8 record.
