Report: Bears planning to start Daniel vs. Giants, Trubisky still not throwing
The Chicago Bears are planning to start quarterback Chase Daniel against the New York Giants on Sunday in Week 13, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Mitchell Trubisky's expected to miss a second consecutive contest due to a shoulder injury despite returning to practice on Wednesday. Head coach Matt Nagy said Thursday that Trubisky still isn't throwing, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.
The 32-year-old Daniel performed admirably on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions in his first NFL start since 2014, and just the third of his career. He completed 27 of 37 pass attempts for 230 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed for 4 yards and recorded an 8-yard reception.
Nagy previously indicated Trubisky could play through his injury right now, but the team is being cautious with its second-year passer, according to Garafolo.
Chicago sits first in the NFC North with a record of 8-3-0.
