Baldwin: Seahawks recreating Sherman's famous tip 'was in our hearts'

The Seattle Seahawks paid tribute to former teammate Richard Sherman after Jaron Brown's four-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin played the part of Sherman in the recreation of the cornerback's famous tip to then-Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith for an interception against the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game in February 2014.

"That was a tribute to my boy," Baldwin said after the game, according to TJ Cotterill of The News Tribune. "I know all you guys think that we're robots and that we're not humans and that we don't have emotions, but when you spend so much time with guys and doing what we do, day in and day out, it's hard. You spend those hard days with guys that you love. Sherm is obviously one of those guys that has done so much for this organization that we thought it would be nice to give him a tribute and we had an opportunity to do so.

"I know it was kind of weird, we're scoring, he's on the other team, we're doing the tribute. But that was in our hearts this week."

The Seahawks went on to win 43-16, moving to 7-5 on the season while the 49ers dropped to 2-10.

Sherman is in his first year with San Francisco after being released by the Seahawks last offseason. He's yet to record an interception in what would be the three-time All-Pro's first campaign without a pick.
