After leading the Philadelphia Eagles to an upset victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Nick Foles was announced as the team's starting quarterback for their Week 16 tilt with the Houston Texans.

Foles is likely to remain the team's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Head coach Doug Pederson's been clear that he won't put Carson Wentz in harm's way as the franchise quarterback recovers from a stress fracture in his back.

Wentz is expected to make a full recovery in three months, but he won't need surgery, opening up the possibility that he could return to the lineup this season. Wentz will not be placed on injured reserve, according to Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com.

Foles, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, completed 24 of 31 passes for 270 yards with an interception in Philadelphia's win over Los Angeles.

The Eagles are still alive in the NFC playoff race with a 7-7 record. The team currently sits a half-game back of the Minnesota Vikings for the conference's final wild-card spot.

After hosting the Texans in Week 16, Philadelphia will end its season on the road against the Washington Redskins.
