Brees says Bridgewater will get playing time in Week 17
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees revealed Wednesday that backup Teddy Bridgewater will take snaps versus the Carolina Panthers, according to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune.
The Saints secured the NFC's No. 1 seed after a Week 16 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers so they're expected to rest some starters in the season finale.
Brees wasn't sure how the quarterback workload will be divvied up on Sunday, adding, "whatever I'm asked to do, I'm ready to do."
Acquired from the New York Jets in August, Bridgewater has played just 19 snaps behind Brees, who is in the midst of an MVP-caliber season. The former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings is scheduled to hit free agency this offseason.
Bridgewater hasn't seen significant regular-season action since late in the 2015 season. He suffered a gruesome injury the following summer.
