Jets fire Todd Bowles after 3rd straight losing season
The New York Jets have relieved head coach Todd Bowles of his duties, the team announced Sunday.
Bowles was hired in 2015 and put together a cumulative record of 24-40 during his four-year run.
"I would like to thank Coach Bowles for his dedication to the New York Jets for the last four years. After carefully evaluating the situation, I have concluded that this is the right direction for the organization to take," Jets chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement.
The Jets went 10-6 in his first season, however, New York failed to make the playoffs during his tenure.
Bowles entered the 2017 season on the hot seat, but despite being saddled with one of the worst rosters in the league, the team overachieved to reach five wins. The Jets took a definite step back this season and finished with a 4-12 record.
The Jets have been rumored to be interested in former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.
