Josh McCown not ruling out return for age-40 season
Upcoming free-agent quarterback Josh McCown is leaving his options open for what would be his age-40 season.
"I'm not ruling anything out," McCown told Andy Vasquez of NorthJersey.com on Monday, adding that he'll decide with his family in the coming weeks.
McCown spent the past two campaigns with the New York Jets. He signed a one-year, $10-million contract in the offseason and appeared in four games in 2018, primarily serving as rookie Sam Darnold's backup. McCown went 0-3 as the team's starter, completing just 54.5 percent of 110 pass attempts for 539 yards and one touchdown to go along with four interceptions.
He set career bests in passing yards, touchdowns, completion percentage, and rushing touchdowns over 13 starts with the Jets last season.
Originally a third-round selection of Arizona in the 2002 NFL Draft, he's spent time with the Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and Jets.
His career earnings top $38.6 million.
