The First-Ever Experiment Simultaneously Photographing Light’s Behavior as Both a Particle and a Wave

Scientists at Ecole Polytechnique Fi(C)di(C)rale de Lausanne led by Fabrizio Carbone have for the first time ever photographed light simultaneously behaving as both a particle and a wave. They recently published a paper about their work in Nature Communications.
Albert Einstein proposed the notion that light is both a particle and a wave in 1905, but earlier experiments only captured it behaving one way or the other. The institute has also released an animated explanation of how the experiment was conducted.
