New Horizons beams home close-ups of Ultima Thule – video

Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft has beamed home its first close-up images of Ultima Thule, a lump of rock the shape of an unfinished snowman that lies 4bn miles away on the edge of the solar system.

The excited scientists of the New Horizons team led by principal investigator Alan Stern discuss their findings so far. 'We could not be happier,' he said.
