Veteran safety Eric Weddle is prepared to retire if the Baltimore Ravens don't retain his services for the fourth and final year of his contract.

"If (general manager Eric DeCosta) wants me back, I'm here," Weddle said Monday, according to Cecil Whig's Sean Grogan. "If not, then it's all good, I understand it, and I'll just ride off in the sunset."

Weddle is due $8.25 million next season. The Ravens could save $6.5 million in cap space by releasing him, according to Spotrac.

"If they want to go in a different direction, I'm not going to play for another team," Weddle said, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. "It's not where I'm at in my career."

"I still have a desire to play and I feel that I can still affect the game and dominate games, but either way, I'm good with whatever," the 34-year-old added, according to Grogan.

The former Los Angeles Chargers star has made the Pro Bowl in all three of his years with Baltimore. He racked up 68 tackles and a sack in 2018 and had seven tackles in the Ravens' season-ending playoff loss to his ex-team Sunday.
