On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico as a Category 4 storm. The unprecedented destruction in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Maria challenged tuberculosis (TB) control, but the Puerto Rico Department of Health Tuberculosis Control Program's limited personnel, in collaboration with partners, was able to maintain treatment and access to TB laboratory services.
