Report: Chiefs aiming to extend Hill, Jones in offseason
The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly intent on locking up a key piece on each side of the ball at season's end.
The AFC West champions want to work on contract extensions for wide receiver Tyreek Hill and defensive lineman Chris Jones in the offseason, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Rapoport adds that the Chiefs could also use the franchise tag to retain top pass-rusher Dee Ford, who racked up a career-high 13 sacks in 2018.
Hill, especially, is apparently set for a big payday, as Rapoport notes that "he's "going to be one of the highest-paid, if not the highest-paid receivers" in the league.
Odell Beckham Jr. is currently the league's top-paid receiver, earning $18 million per season. Hill established himself among the league's elite wideouts by posting 1,479 yards - fourth-most in the league - and 12 touchdowns on 87 catches.
Jones, meanwhile, posted 40 tackles and 15.5 sacks in his third season.
