Rams' Anderson OK if Gurley takes majority of Super Bowl snaps
The Los Angeles Rams unexpectedly developed a running back committee during the playoffs, but C.J. Anderson is perfectly fine if Todd Gurley resumes his role as the lead back in the Super Bowl.
"Our job is the same, as many first downs as we can get," Anderson told reporters, as relayed by Kimberley A. Martin of Yahoo Sports. "Whoever gets the most first downs, I guess that's how it goes. But at the end of the day, if Todd wants to play 98 percent of the snaps, that's what he's going to do. We're gonna be OK with that."
Anderson joined the Rams in December and was dominant in two regular-season appearances, rushing for 299 yards and two touchdowns while Gurley sat out with a knee injury.
The veteran's hot streak continued in the postseason, as he rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys and then took the lead in the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints with Gurley largely tethered to the bench.
However, Rams head coach Sean McVay was adamant that Gurley will feature heavily in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. The two-time All-Pro also insisted his knee injury's no longer a factor.
Gurley dominated during the regular season, finishing second in rushing yards per game while leading NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns. He was named a first-team All-Pro for his efforts.
