Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams have been told they won't be invited to the NFL Scouting Combine because they don't meet the league's criteria under the policy about past issues involving violence, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Simmons, a potential top-10 pick in April's draft, was arrested in 2016 after a physical altercation with a woman, according to Pelissero. Williams' arrest was in 2017, also for an altercation with a woman.

The two players are reportedly the only two who've been barred from this year's event to date, but invitations have been withdrawn in the past following background checks.

Simmons recorded two sacks and 58 total tackles in 2018. Williams caught 96 passes for 1,345 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading Colorado State in both statistics following a transfer from Tennessee after the 2016 season.
