Todd Gurley took a handoff on the Los Angeles Rams' first offensive play of Super Bowl LIII and touched the ball just twice more before halftime.

The star running back conceded the bulk of his backfield duties to C.J. Anderson in the first half, much like he did in the NFC championship. His silence throughout the first half had Twitter users stymied as the Rams battled the New England Patriots in Atlanta:

I just don't understand why you make Todd Gurley the highest-paid running back in NFL history to have him stand on the sideline in the Super Bowl.

Every play Todd Gurley not in the game is a win for the patriots...

Guarantee one month from now a report will surface Todd Gurley played through a torn meniscus during the NFL Playoffs. Only reasonable explanation for his nearly nonexistent workload.

The one football player in the history of the sport Sean McVay forgot is Todd Gurley.
