Jason McCourty just went from worst to first, and he couldn't be happier about it after the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 on Sunday.

McCourty spent the 2017 season with the winless Cleveland Browns. Then the veteran cornerback was traded to the Patriots in March 2018, joining his brother, Devin, for the first time in their professional careers.

"I don't even know if I had a vision for it, man," McCourty said, according to NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman. "Last year, I spent the season in Cleveland. Didn't win a football game. God is good. I couldn't imagine I'd be sitting here after the 2018-19 season. Dev texted Bill (Belichick) in March and said 'two McCourtys are better than one.' Tonight, I think Bill agrees. So I'm happy with it."

McCourty shined on the big stage Sunday, especially while breaking up a potential touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks.

The 2018 season was the first campaign that ended with McCourty making the playoffs, let alone the Super Bowl. To no surprise, he says the season was his best in the NFL.

"I couldn't have thought this up, man. ... I remember when I first came here to this team in April, there was a whole media spectacle that it wouldn't be any fun here," he said. "It's my third organization in my 10th season. I haven't had more fun than this season."
