Hairpin havoc at the old Claremont access in 1969

Few mountain residents would recall with any fondness the old twisting Claremont access that used to ice up in winter, sprout pot holes in spring and carry bumper to bumper traffic always. The picture shows traffic in 1969 lined up to make the sharp hairpin turn on the steep old access.
