Amazing Footage of an Incredibly Rare Emperor Penguin Covered Almost Entirely in Black Feathers
by Lori Dorn from Laughing Squid on (#49YE7)
In a clip from the BBC America series Dynasties, a lone emperor penguin covered almost entirely in black feathers, struts around in front of a giant waddle, spotlighting exactly how different this one is from the others. This unusual appearance is due to melanism, which is a very rare species mutation and very few survive to adulthood, possibly making this penguin the rarest in the world.
