Report: Giants inform Collins he won't be tagged
The New York Giants informed safety Landon Collins ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline that he will not be franchise tagged, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
If tagged, the 2016 All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler would have been paid $11.1 million this season.
Collins will now hit the free-agent market along with other notable safeties Earl Thomas and Tyrann Mathieu.
After averaging 113 tackles per season over his first three years, Collins racked up 96 tackles in 12 games with one forced fumble and zero interceptions in 2018.
Collins thanked the Giants on Twitter and declared he's "on to the next chapter."
