The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Donovan Smith have struck a new deal that will keep the left tackle away from free agency.

The Bucs re-signed Smith to a three-year deal on Tuesday, hours before the franchise tag deadline. The deal is worth a reported $41 million, with $27 million guaranteed, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.

Smith has started every game for the Buccaneers since the team made him a second-round pick in 2015.

"Donovan has been a valuable player and a model of durability since we drafted him four years ago," general manager Jason Licht said in a statement. "We always aim to develop our players and reward them for their productivity and reliability, so keeping Donovan as a Buccaneer was a major priority for us this offseason."

The ironman has struggled with sacks and penalties, however, allowing 5.5 sacks and getting whistled for six penalties in 2018.
