Report: 49ers land Alexander on 4-year, $54M deal
The San Francisco 49ers will reportedly sign former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Kwon Alexander to a four-year, $54-million contract when free agency opens Wednesday, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal includes $27 million in guaranteed money, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Alexander, a Pro Bowler in 2017, is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the seventh week of the 2018 campaign. He posted 97 tackles and three interceptions in his Pro Bowl season.
The Niners had a glaring need at linebacker after cutting former first-round pick Reuben Foster in November.
Alexander was known for his speed before the knee injury, though missed tackles have occasionally been an issue across the 24-year-old's career.
