The Houston Texans signed ex-Jacksonville Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson on Tuesday, the team announced.

He'll reportedly receive a three-year contract worth a little more than $22 million, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer.

Gipson was one of four notable players Jacksonville released on Friday, meaning he could sign a contract before free agency officially opens Wednesday.

The acquisition should help fill the void after the Texans lost Tyrann Mathieu, who agreed to a three-year, $42-million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gispon notched 54 tackles and one interception for the Jaguars last season. The seven-year veteran has spent three years with the Jaguars and four seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
