Jets release veteran RB Isaiah Crowell
by Mike Alessandrini from on (#4B271)
The New York Jets released running back Isaiah Crowell after one season, the team announced Thursday.
Crowell was deemed expendable after the Jets officially signed star ball-carrier Le'Veon Bell. The team also appears set on using Elijah McGuire as Bell's backup.
The 26-year-old Crowell gained 685 yards and scored six touchdowns for the Jets in 2018. He set the franchise's single-game rushing record with 219 yards in a Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos.
Crowell began his career with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent. He inked a three-year deal with New York worth $12 million last offseason.
