Teddy Bridgewater will re-sign with the New Orleans Saints, a source told Dianna Russini of ESPN.

He'll receive a one-year deal worth a fully guaranteed $7.25 million and a maximum value of $12.5 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The free-agent quarterback was courted by the Miami Dolphins and reportedly visited the AFC East team Wednesday but ultimately opted to return to New Orleans as Drew Brees' potential successor.

The young passer appeared to confirm his return on Twitter:

Bridgewater also seemed to acknowledge the strange symmetry his return has with Brees' arrival in New Orleans. The Dolphins passed on signing the future Hall of Famer in 2006, opening the door for Brees to sign with the Saints on March 14, 13 years ago to the day.

13 years later, I'm trying to see if history will repeat itself in my favor at some point.

The Saints acquired Bridgewater from the New York Jets for a third-round pick last offseason after he impressed during the preseason and alleviated any lingering doubts about his health following a career-threatening knee injury in 2016.

With Bridgewater, Nick Foles, and Tyrod Taylor all off the market, the Dolphins are running out of options under center. Miami is reportedly expected to move on from longtime starter Ryan Tannehill.
