Report: Saints signing Jared Cook
The New Orleans Saints are set to give Drew Brees another big-time weapon, as they're expected to sign top free-agent tight end Jared Cook, sources told Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Cook produced a career year as the top pass-catcher for the Oakland Raiders last season, racking up 896 yards and six touchdowns.
The 31-year-old veteran should give Drew Brees his first top-tier target at tight end since Jimmy Graham, who was traded in 2014. New Orleans has struggled to get consistent production from the position since then, with Benjamin Watson's 35 catches tops among the team's tight ends in 2018.
Cook could also ease the workload of Michael Thomas. The Saints lacked a second option behind their No. 1 receiver last year, who had almost double the receiving yards of the Saints' next leading player, running back Alvin Kamara.
