Tottenham Hotspur star striker Harry Kane's idea of a fun retirement is apparently trading in one kind of football for another.

In an ESPN feature by Bruce Schoenfeld published Wednesday, Kane revealed he would like to try to make it as a kicker in the NFL when his soccer career is over.

"That's real," Kane said. "Something that in 10 or 12 years I definitely want to try."

One of the world's best goal-scorers, Kane says testing his skills in another professional sports league would help satisfy his competitive drive.

"It goes back to that drive to be the best," he said. "Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world? ... If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?"

Kane explained how his love of the NFL developed from an admiration for Tom Brady, whom he watched play through YouTube highlights.

Strangely, there's a precedent for the 25-year-old to follow. Clive Allen, who was also a forward for Spurs, played in NFL Europe as a kicker during the 1997 season.

While going from superstar striker to NFL kicker might not be the best financial move, it appears Kane is serious about eventually blazing a trail across the pond.
