Report: Texans, Clowney not expected to agree on contract anytime soon
by Mike Alessandrini from on (#4D5ER)
It appears a long-term contract agreement between the Houston Texans and franchise-tagged pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney isn't on the horizon just yet.
The two sides are still far apart in negotiations and a deal isn't expected to be finalized anytime soon, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Houston slapped Clowney with the tag prior to the February deadline and he has until July 15 to agree on a new contract. After this, the 26-year-old can only sign his one-year franchise tender.
Clowney, the No. 1 overall pick in 2014, totaled 47 tackles, nine sacks, and three fumble recoveries during the 2018 campaign.
