The Burning of the Notre-Dame Cathedral: A Stoic Lesson in Memento Mori

The burning of the building is indeed tragic, but perhaps there is a greater lesson that can be extracted: that things fall apart, that the nature of existence is ephemeral. This is why Stoic philosophers believe in the concept of Memento Mori, Latin for "remember that you will die."
