The reason for a lack of communication between Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey and head coach Doug Marrone has been discovered.

Ramsey responded Friday after Jaguars executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin said he was disappointed the team didn't have full attendance for voluntary offseason conditioning programs.

The cornerback said he was training in Nashville and, despite Marrone saying his attempts to contact the 24-year-old went unanswered, the team knew why he wasn't in Jacksonville.

It turns out Marrone had the wrong number.

"Had a great talk," Marrone said, according to Mark Long of The Associated Press. "He's training with his brother. He's in Nashville. He's spending time with his family. He said he's going to come back in the best shape he's ever been in and he's all fired up. That was pretty much the conversation. It was a good conversation. I was concerned, obviously, because I was texting a number I thought was his and he wasn't getting back to me.

"I couldn't figure out what was going on, so we kind of had a little laugh about it. Now I have the right number. He's always had my number, so it's good."

Ramsey had been in contact with cornerbacks coach Tim Walton but both Marrone and director of player development Marcus Pollard had the wrong number listed for the two-time Pro Bowler.

Linebacker Telvin Smith was the only other absence during the offseason program.

It's the second straight year Ramsey has missed this portion of the offseason.
