Nazem Kadri says he didn't intend to cross-check Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk in the face and earn an eventual season-ending suspension, according to TSN's Kristen Shilton.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward said he struck DeBrusk's head accidentally with his cross-check in Game 2 of their playoff series. However, the 28-year-old also acknowledged it was a "boneheaded" play, per Shilton.

Kadri hit DeBrusk with a two-handed cross-check with about six minutes remaining in Game 2. The incident resulted in the veteran getting suspended for the rest of the first-round matchup.

The Bruins won that contest 4-1 and went on to win the series in seven games.
