The newest San Francisco 49er apologized Friday for a 2016 tweet criticizing a former 49er.

Nick Bosa, the second overall pick in Thursday night's draft, was unveiled by the Niners during a press conference Friday. The pass-rusher addressed a controversy that arose weeks prior to the draft when it was learned Bosa deleted old tweets, including one in which he called Colin Kaepernick a "clown."

The tweet was made Aug. 31, 2016, at the height of the controversy surrounding Kaepernick and his protest of racial inequality during the national anthem.

"I definitely made some insensitive decisions throughout my life and I'm just excited to be here with a clean slate. I'm sorry if I hurt anybody. I definitely didn't intend for that to be the case," Bosa said.

" ... Bad decision. I respect what (Kaepernick's) done. If it empowers anybody then he's doing good things."
