Oakland Raiders running back Isaiah Crowell will miss the entire 2019 season after tearing his Achilles during a team workout Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

It's a tough blow for the five-year veteran who signed a one-year, $1-million contract with the Raiders in March. Crowell had initially been tabbed to lead a backfield that's expected to lose Marshawn Lynch to retirement. However, once Oakland drafted runner Josh Jacobs with a first-round pick on Thursday, Crowell was likely set to be a veteran backup and a mentor for the youngster.

The Raiders are now left with Jacobs, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington, and Chris Warren at running back.

Crowell spent his first four NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns before signing with the New York Jets last season. He rushed for 685 yards and six touchdowns in 2018, and was released by the Jets in the spring.
