Report: Derrick Johnson retiring with Chiefs
Following the lead of former teammate Jamaal Charles, longtime Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson is signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the team, 610 Sports Radio reports.
The same outlet reported Charles' retirement, which was held at Chiefs facilities Wednesday.
Johnson spent 13 seasons with Kansas City, from 2005 to 2017, before joining the Oakland Raiders for the 2018 season. He amassed four Pro Bowl selections and one first-team All-Pro nod.
The 36-year-old played in 182 games with the Chiefs, racking up 1,168 total tackles, 27.5 sacks, and 14 interceptions. He's the franchise's leader in solo tackles with 938.
