Report: Seahawks to sign Ziggy Ansah to 1-year deal
Free-agent pass-rusher Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah will sign a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal is expected to include $5.5 million guaranteed with another $8 million available in incentives, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Ansah is scheduled to sign on Thursday after flying to Seattle.
The Seahawks were in competition with the Buffalo Bills for Ansah's services. A report earlier Wednesday labeled Seattle the front-runner to land him, but Bills general manager Brandon Beane called the rumor "garbage" hours later, adding that he was still negotiating with the former Pro Bowler.
The addition of Ansah plugs a major hole for the Seahawks, who traded away star edge-rusher Frank Clark before the NFL draft amid a contract impasse. The Seahawks drafted another pass-rusher, L.J. Collier, in the first round.
Ansah spent the first six seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions. He notched four sacks over seven games during an injury-riddled 2018 campaign, but had 12 sacks the year prior.
Shoulder surgery early in the offseason slowed the market for Ansah, who'll turn 30 on May 29.
