The Miami Dolphins signed Mark Walton on Sunday, the team announced, even while the running back potentially faces league discipline.

Walton, who received a tryout at rookie minicamp, was the Cincinnati Bengals' fourth-round pick in 2018, but the team waived him last month after the 21-year-old was arrested three times in 2019.

Walton is facing felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession, and reckless driving following a high-speed car chase in March that ended with him vanishing after being shot with a stun gun. He has yet to publicly address the charges.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores wanted to see how the ball carrier fits on his squad while legal proceedings play out.

"Obviously, (Walton is a) talented player," Flores told reporters on Saturday, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. "We wanted to definitely take a look at him, see if he was a fit for us, you know, on the field, off the field. And I think he's done a good job in the one day he's been here."

Walton could compete for a roster spot in training camp behind Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage in Miami's backfield if he avoids discipline from the NFL.
