The Indianapolis Colts and cornerback Kenny Moore agreed to a four-year extension that will make him the league's highest-paid slot defender, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Moore's deal contains $30 million in new money from 2021 through 2023 with a maximum value north of $36 million, according to Rapoport.

The 23-year-old had been set to play one more season before becoming a restricted free agent.

Moore, an undrafted free agent in 2017, landed in Indianapolis after failing to make the New England Patriots' final 53-man roster as a rookie.

In his first year with the Colts, he appeared in 16 games and started five. He then started 15 games last season after winning the slot role from Nate Hairston and helped stabilize the Colts' defense, which surprised many by finishing as the league's 10th-best unit in terms of points allowed.

Moore racked up 11 pass defenses, three interceptions, 1.5 sacks, and 77 combined tackles in 2018.

The cap-rich Colts have focused on re-signing their own players rather than splashing cash outside the organization this offseason, with punter Rigoberto Sanchez most recently earning a new extension.
