Former New England Patriots running back Kenjon Barner wasn't expecting to receive a Super Bowl LIII ring from the team, but that's exactly what came in the mail this week.

Barner - now a member of the Atlanta Falcons - was released three times during his two months with the Patriots last season, with the final cut coming in November. Although the rusher wasn't part of the playoff run, team owner Robert Kraft decided to send Barner a championship ring anyway.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of the letter and ring he received from Kraft.

Just want to send out a huge thank you to everyone at the @patriots organization again for the opportunity that was given! Wasn't expecting this when I got the call and still wasn't expecting it when the ring was In My hands! Thank you Thank you Thank you, God is good! #Back2Back #2X

Barner then decided to gift the ring to his father, who was just as surprised as he was.

This means more to me than anything, being able to see the happiness that this stuff brings my Dad means the world to me! This why I do what I do, the joy that my family gets from this game I play, is my why!

My Number 1 inspiration! We made a pact way back in 2004 "You do your part, I do mine, What's mine is yours and what's yours mine" we've done exactly that! Love you Daddy I could never repay you for everything you have given to me and taught by setting an example on what a father is supposed to look like, be like and do! I never had to look for you because You were at every game, every practice, every sport from NJB, AAU, baseball, and football high school and college all the way up until I made to the league! I love you and thank you if I am half the father you are to me to my kids, they have the second greatest father of all time because I have the GREATEST! Love you Daddy
