Data show that rich countries that adhere to a welfare state model are not the most generous ones. When we check the Charities Aid Foundation World Giving Index, France is 72nd on the list of generosity. Denmark is 24th, Belgium is 39th. On the other hand, Ireland and the USaa-both of which have lower tax-to-GDP ratiosa-are fourth and fifth, respectively. Interesting, isn't it?
