It's almost time to pick up the controllers again.
In anticipation of the release of Madden 20 on Aug. 2, EA Sports revealed all teams and players ratings for the game on Monday.
Here's a look at the top five teams based on overall ratings:
Team | Overall | Defense Rating | Offense Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Eagles | 89 | 84 | 87 |
Cowboys | 88 | 86 | 86 |
Saints | 87 | 82 | 92 |
Patriots | 87 | 84 | 91 |
Packers | 87 | 84 | 89 |
And here are the bottom five teams:
Team | Overall | Defense Rating | Offense Rating |
---|---|---|---|
Dolphins | 74 | 72 | 69 |
Giants | 77 | 72 | 75 |
Bills | 78 | 80 | 71 |
Buccaneers | 78 | 74 | 76 |
Cardinals | 78 | 80 | 73 |
Jets | 78 | 80 | 73 |
On the player side, DeAndre Hopkins, Aaron Donald, Bobby Wagner, and Khalil Mack were all awarded a 99 overall rating.
Here are the top five players in every position group:
QuarterbacksPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Patrick Mahomes | Chiefs | 97 |
Tom Brady | Patriots | 96 |
Philip Rivers | Chargers | 94 |
Drew Brees | Saints | 92 |
Andrew Luck | Colts | 92 |
To the surprise of some, Carson Wentz was given a rating of only 82, placing him behind fellow QBs Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff. Aaron Rodgers ranks seventh among quarterbacks with a rating of 90.
Running backsPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Todd Gurley | Rams | 97 |
Ezekiel Elliott | Cowboys | 94 |
Le'Veon Bell | Jets | 92 |
Melvin Gordon | Chargers | 92 |
Saquon Barkley | Giants | 91 |
Christian McCaffrey | Panthers | 91 |
Kareem Hunt and Alvin Kamara just missed the top five with ratings of 90 apiece. If you're looking to break ankles, Tarik Cohen has an elusiveness rating of 92.
Wide receiversPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
DeAndre Hopkins | Texans | 99 |
Antonio Brown | Raiders | 98 |
Julio Jones | Falcons | 98 |
Odell Beckham Jr. | Browns | 96 |
Michael Thomas | Saints | 95 |
Tyreek Hill holds an overall rating of 94, placing him sixth among receivers. However, he's the fastest player in the game with a speed rating of 99. Marquise Goodwin, who recently won the 40 Yards of Gold tournament, has a speed rating of 96.
Tight endsPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Travis Kelce | Chiefs | 96 |
Zach Ertz | Eagles | 93 |
Delanie Walker | Titans | 92 |
George Kittle | 49ers | 90 |
Grego Olsen | Panthers | 89 |
After missing the entirety of last season, Walker ranks third among tight ends. Jason Witten also missed 2018 - albeit for a very different reason - and was given a rating of 83.
Offensive linemenPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
David Bakhtiari | Packers | 97 |
Zack Martin | Cowboys | 96 |
Trent Williams | Redskins | 95 |
Travis Frederick | Cowboys | 94 |
Jason Kelce | Eagles | 94 |
Tyron Smith | Cowboys | 94 |
Handling Zeke behind a Cowboys offensive line that boasts three players with ratings of 94-plus is a surefire way to dominate the run game.
Edge rushersPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Khalil Mack | Bears | 99 |
Von Miller | Broncos | 97 |
J.J. Watt | Texans | 97 |
Calais Campbell | Jaguars | 92 |
Jadeveon Clowney | Texans | 92 |
The Texans were tabbed as having the best push-rushing group, but the Chargers' duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram did not go unnoticed. They are rated 97 and 94, respectively, in terms of their finesse moves against offensive linemen.
Also, DeMarcus Lawrence had quite the reaction to his 89 overall rating.
Defensive tacklesPlayer | Team | Ratings |
---|---|---|
Aaron Donald | Rams | 99 |
Fletcher Cox | Eagles | 96 |
Damon Harrison | Lions | 95 |
Michael Pierce | Ravens | 92 |
Geno Atkins | Bengals | 91 |
There was never any doubt that Donald would lead this group after totaling 20.5 sacks last year. He also leads all players with a 99 strength rating, although his former teammate Ndamukong Suh comes close with a strength rating of 98.
LinebackersPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Bobby Wagner | Seahawks | 99 |
Luke Kuechly | Panthers | 98 |
Lavonte David | Buccaneers | 90 |
Deion Jones | Falcons | 90 |
Telvin Smith | Jaguars | 88 |
If you're looking to utilize the hit stick, Wagner is your man. He has a league-high hit power rating of 98. Last year's league-leader in tackles, Darius Leonard, received a rating of 84.
CornerbacksPlayer | Team | Rating |
---|---|---|
Jalen Ramsey | Jaguars | 96 |
Stephon Gilmore | Patriots | 94 |
Richard Sherman | 49ers | 93 |
Patrick Peterson | Cardinals | 92 |
Byron Jones | Cowboys | 91 |
Sherman is 31 years old, but he's still near the top of the ratings. The Madden 15 cover athlete also holds the highest rating for zone coverage with 97, while Ramsey holds the highest for man coverage with the same rating.
Leading the league in interceptions last year apparently did Xavien Howard no favors, as he was given a rating of only 83.
SafetiesPlayer | Team | Ratings |
---|---|---|
Earl Thomas | Ravens | 95 |
Harrison Smith | Vikings | 94 |
Malcolm Jenkins | Eagles | 92 |
Eddie Jackson | Bears | 91 |

---|---|---|
Justin Tucker | Ravens | 87 |
Robbie Gould | 49ers | 85 |
Aldrick Rosas | Giants | 84 |
Stephen Gostkowski | Patriots | 80 |
Greg Zuerlein | Rams | 80 |
If you're going to attempt any 60-yard field goals, make sure you've got Graham Gano taking them. His kick power rating of 99 leads the league.
