The Miami Dolphins have removed defensive tackle Kendrick Norton from their active roster with a non-football injury designation, the team announced Sunday.

Norton, who had his arm amputated after a car accident in early July, will still earn his full salary after the team placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list. He was cited as at fault for the accident due to an improper lane change that caused him to hit another vehicle and a concrete barrier.

The 22-year-old underwent six surgeries before being released from hospital Thursday. All of his medical bills will be covered by either the Dolphins or the NFL.

The Carolina Panthers selected the Miami product in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. He never played an NFL snap.
