Though Bobby Wagner wants a new deal from the Seattle Seahawks, he's still expected to report to camp Wednesday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Wagner, however, will be cautious and may avoid putting himself in harm's way until he secures a new contract, Rapoport added.

The linebacker is entering the final year of his four-year, $43-million deal. He was present during offseason workouts but didn't participate, instead acting as a mentor to younger players.

In May, the 29-year-old said he was seeking a new contract that would make him the league's highest-paid inside linebacker. That's currently C.J. Mosley, whose average annual salary is $17 million.

The five-time Pro Bowler is the one constant in a Seahawks defense that's been overhauled in recent years. Wagner collected 138 tackles, an interception, and a sack in 2018. He's racked up over 100 tackles in each of his seven NFL campaigns.
