They had set up a giant tent at Heritage Hide-a-way Park on 12th Concession in Flamborough for spouse-swapping and group sex. And one day in July 1981, Hamilton-Wentworth Police decided they had had enough of it. More than 50 officers surprised the revellers one night with a late-night visit. The cops used knives to cut through the canvas, and with cameras firing rounded up nearly 100 naked people. The keepers of the tent of iniquity, Ed and Jeanette Hughes, were charged with keeping a common bawdy house. Their clients were charged with a variety of moral offences that eventually resulted in small fines or absolute discharges.
